Blazing Pillar shatters shields very well, it seeks enemies so you don't have to think about targeting very much, and it really does build charge well like the description says, which is always a good thing.

Act two starts to have those armadillo guys and more enemies have shields, so it can be a problem if you don't want to go an hit them with your staff all the time. By this point in the game, you have had hardly any fire damage, so armored enemies can kinda suck. You can dance around enemies and the battlefield and it's WONDERFUL. No, I can use it one time and wait for 30 seconds, no no no. You can blast in and out of battles at will, always. It does damage, it slows guys, it's a teleport, and it has almost NO cooldown. (Prismatic bolt again.) Storm Phase comes next, and is probably my favorite skill ever. Once it hits level 5, 20% more ice and lightning damage to the affected targets.

It's handy, but not great for dealing a ton of damage, and doesn't build charge, which I use a lot. I like Hailstorm for the stun early on, and I max it out at 5 points. It's very handy. :) So Prismatic bolt is your main attack. You don't have to think 'I MUST find fire equipment' all the time. Any type of armor reduction on the enemies works for it. Any type of damage being upgraded on your equipment makes it better. Yes, Magma Spear does more damage at first than either of the other skill trees base attacks, but once you get later on, I prefer prismatic bolt. Your focus should get high enough quick enough that you have decent mana regen without needing it to be boosted on your equipment.įirst thing's first, unlearn Magma Spear as soon as you get to the Estherian Enclave, and pick up Prismatic Bolt.

If you can get a bit of health recovery as well that can reduce how many potions you're using since you can somewhat heal up between gropus of mobs. (IMO) Armor and such, focus on getting vitality and focus upgrades, and then whatever elemental defense is appropriate for the areas you're in. Also, once you get enough focus, you won't be doing normal attacks hardly at all, so the slight advantage of ranged attacks isn't really worth it. Two wands are sometimes better if you're going to be doing normal attacks, but since your spells go off of your main hand weapon's overall damage, each hit will do a lot less, and you don't want to waste mana on weaker spells, you'll blow half your money on potions that way. I stick to a staff for the higher base damage for spells.
