The last difference between my windows 7 build and my windows 10 build is a brand new Samsung SATA SSD, but the drive looks all green when I tested it.Microsoft Community Chat Helpful resources I can't isolate the issue and is so very confused. To double check, I unplugged the cpu fan to try and test the temperature at which Windows 10 would shut my computer with with just a chasis fan, but now Windows 10 is working okay with just the chasis fan again. So I plugged in a second fan on the cpu fan control pin, and I was able to reach 60 degrees with cpu stress tester no issue. I had situation where Windows 10 would shut down even during loading screen when the temperature is around 50, so I had thought maybe it was trying to trigger the cpu fan, and because it couldn't find one, it shuts the computer down. My computer's low power cpu is passively cooled and my case only has 1 chasis fan, and my temperature only hovers between 45~60 degrees, but the motherboard does come with a cpu fan controller despite only having custom fit cpu heatsink. I know Windows 10 has more hardware integration with the motherboard. I switched back to windows 7 hard drive and there's 0 issue at all. Right now the current test install is using legacy boot. Bios is the latest version from 2018, so it should sit well with Windows 10 at this time.

    the installer works and I have used it to install on other computers before I did this one. Originally the shut down would always happen as soon as I try to unplug the installer usb stick, but it appears to also shut down even when the stick is plugged in. I managed to get into windows 10, activate, update and all that, but computer would randomly shut down after a while, and event viewer doesn't tell me anything because the computer had lost power before it logged what's wrong. When I installed in uefi mode, it's a lot more complex. When I tried to install in legacy mode, it only got as far as finishing copying the files and then rebooting and then setting up the system, then it just shut down by itself this is a fresh install of windows 10, not upgrading from windows 7. Q2900 desktop, runs windows 7 perfectly, but for the life of me I can't get windows 10 to function on this machine. I am in that 2020 rush to try and get the computer to windows 10, but it just wouldn't let me.
